Privacy Policy
Guardian AI is built around one idea: protecting your child’s device without watching your family. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what the app can see, what it stores, what it sends over the network, and what our website collects.
Screen analysis happens only on the device
Guardian AI uses Android’s screen-capture system (MediaProjection) to look at what’s on your child’s screen inside the apps you’ve allowed it to protect.
Every frame is analysed in memory, on the device itself, and then immediately discarded. Frames are never written to permanent storage, never uploaded, and never seen by us — because there is nowhere for them to go. The device has no way to send us your child’s screen, and we have not built one.
This means your child’s screen content never reaches us. We literally cannot see it.
What Guardian AI stores on the device
Guardian AI keeps two things on the device, and nothing else:
- Parent settings — the app configuration you choose (which apps to protect, PIN, preferences).
- A bounded event log — a record of event type and time (for example, “shielded content in App X at 14:32”), not the content itself and not a screenshot.
Neither of these ever leaves the device unless you choose to back up your phone through Android’s own system, which Guardian AI does not control.
The app’s only network connection
Guardian AI has exactly one network feature: a manual “Check for updates” button that you, the parent, press yourself.
Pressing it sends a standard HTTPS request to fetch a version manifest — a small file that says what the newest version is. No personal data, device identifier, or usage information is attached to this request.
Outside of that one button, Guardian AI has no accounts, no cloud storage, no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no third-party libraries that phone home. It does not run in the background talking to any server.
What this website collects
This website (where you’re reading this policy) is separate from the app installed on your child’s device. It collects only:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookieless, aggregate visit counter with no cross-site tracking and no personal profiles.
- Waitlist form details — if you sign up for the family beta, we store the name, phone number, optional child age range, and locale you provide, in Cloudflare KV (Cloudflare’s key-value storage).
We use waitlist details for one purpose only: to contact you about the Guardian AI family beta. We do not sell, rent, or share this information with advertisers or other third parties.
Children’s privacy
Guardian AI is designed for parents to install and configure; children do not create accounts or submit data to us.
As explained above, your child’s screen content is processed entirely on-device and discarded — it never reaches us, in any form, at any time. We do not build a profile of your child’s activity, browsing, or behaviour.
If you include a child’s age range on the waitlist form, that’s information you (the parent) chose to share with us to help plan the beta; it does not come from the child and does not include any content from their device.
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your waitlist details at any time by emailing us (see Contact, below).
You control everything the app stores on the device: you can review, change, or reset settings and clear the event log from within the app at any time.
Changes to this policy
Guardian AI is a prototype heading into a private family beta, and this policy will evolve alongside the product. We’ll update the date on this page when we make material changes.
