These terms cover your use of the Guardian AI Android app during its private family beta. By installing and using the app, you agree to them. Please read the limitations section carefully — it matters.
About this beta
Guardian AI is a prototype heading into a private family beta. It is distributed as a direct APK download from this website — not through an app store — to a limited group of families.
Because it’s a prototype, expect rough edges: features may change, break, or disappear as we learn from real use.
Who can use it
Guardian AI is intended to be installed and configured by a parent or legal guardian, on a device belonging to their own family, for the purpose of protecting a child in their care. Install it only on devices you have the authority to manage.
What Guardian AI does — and its limits
Guardian AI provides rapid, AI-assisted protection: it analyses on-screen content inside supported apps and shields explicit, violent, or gambling content as it detects it.
This protection is not a guarantee. Please understand its real limits:
- Like any AI system, Guardian AI can occasionally miss content it should shield, or shield content it shouldn’t (a false positive).
- Content may appear briefly on screen before it is detected and shielded — detection takes a moment, not zero time.
- Some apps use DRM or secure-screen protections that Android itself prevents any app, including Guardian AI, from analysing. Guardian AI cannot see or shield content inside those apps.
- Guardian AI is tamper-resistant, not tamper-proof. On a standard, non-managed Android phone, a sufficiently determined teenager may find ways to disable, uninstall, or work around any app, including this one.
Guardian AI is one strong layer of protection — it does not replace parental supervision, conversation, or judgment.
Beta software, provided as-is
The beta is provided free of charge, on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any warranty that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose.
We may change, suspend, or end the beta at any time, for any reason, including replacing it with a different release process.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app, including content that was not shielded in time or at all.
Acceptable use
While using Guardian AI, please don’t:
- Redistribute a modified version of the APK, or repackage it under a different name.
- Misrepresent what Guardian AI does or does not do — including claiming it guarantees protection it does not provide.
- Use the app to monitor or surveil anyone other than a child in your own care, or in a way that violates the law or another person’s rights.
Changes to the beta or these terms
As the product develops, we may update these terms and the beta program itself. We’ll note material changes on this page.
